Reconciles the acceptance ledger against what the browser just saw. An invitation that has gone from the list is recorded as disappeared and bracketed between the last two observations — deliberately not as accepted, because withdrawn and expired are indistinguishable from here and inventing acceptances would corrupt every number downstream.
