# Add a file to send with an AI Assistant message

> Upload a CSV or Excel file to send with your next message to the AI Assistant. The file is read once here: its column names and row count come back for the card in the composer, and the assistant reads its rows when the message is sent. Name the file's `id` in the message's `attachment_ids`; a file never sent can be removed again.

Files up to 10 MB. The format is decided by the file's own bytes, not its name.
